Guide Dogs Victoria Kennel Enhancement

The Guide Dogs Victoria Kennel Enhancement Project provided an extension and refurbishment of the existing dog accommodation facilities.

The existing kennel blocks were refurbished including the installation of heating and evaporative cooling. The existing exercise yards were resurfaced, and new water-proof canopies were provided over the entire kennel and exercise yard area. The steep slope encourages the circulation of air as heat builds up under the canopy. Folds in the canopy allow areas of near direct sunlight penetration into the exercise yards. Staff amenities were updated, and a new dog hydrotherapy pool was provided.

The canopy provides a sculptural dynamic additional to the highly visible part of the guide dogs site in Kew.
